Mission Trips

Each year the High School and College Age Youth Group has gone on a Mission Trip to serve our neighbors. Trips have included New Orleans, where the youth demolished homes in the Ninth Ward after Hurricane Katrina, South Africa where the youth attended a World AIDS Conference and worked in orphanages for children with AIDS, and Maine, where they helped to renovate a large homeless shelter.

This year (2008), the youth group is returning to New Orleans to continue in the clean-up effort in and around New Orleans. If you would like more information about this important endeavor, please email one of the clergy at your convenience.

South Africa
In 2007, a group of youth and adults attended one week a pan-Anglican conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. The subject was the Millennium Development Goals , and in particular the problem of AIDS in Africa.

This ministry has and will continue to have a profound effect on those who participate in it.

Each summer a group of youth (high school and college students) and adults from Grace Church embarks on a one week mission trip to work in communities with demonstrated needs and to form a Christian community. Our destinations have included Portland, Bangor, and Damariscotta, Maine, New Orleans, and Hayneville, Alabama. In addition, a group of youth traveled to Johannesburg, south Africa in 2007 to participate in a pan-Anglican conference focused on the Millennium Development Goals and in Particular on the AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa.
