* PrideFestPrideFest

Time: 7:00 pm

Building upon the unforgettable fun and fellowship shared in recent years, Grace Church will once again have a booth at the Rhode Island PrideFest on Saturday, June 15, 2019. The Outreach Ministry chaired by Charles Carroll is seeking a number of volunteers to join us at the booth in shifts to help share information and excitement about our wonderful faith community with PrideFest attendees. To sign up for a shift, please click here to access the sign-up sheet directly, or see Charles Carroll on Sunday after the 10:00am worship, and if you have any questions please contact outreach@gracepvd.org. Grace Church will also sponsor a separate event during Pride week, from 7:00-9:30pm on Thursday, June 13, in The Pavilion at Grace, presenting an abridged version of the documentary Call Me Kuchu, followed by a short talk and Q&A with Ugandan LGBTQ rights activist John "Longjones" Abdallah Wambere. The documentary is about the struggle to defeat state-sanctioned homophobia in Uganda, centered on the work of David Kato, Uganda's first openly gay man, and retired Anglican bishop Christopher Senyonjo. Following the screening, we will hear from John "Longjones" Abdallah Wambere, who is featured in the film. Longjones is a Uganda LGBTQ rights activist and co-founder of Spectrum Uganda Initiatives, a Kampala based LGBTQ rights advocacy organization. Because of the threat of violence and persecution he faced in Uganda, he was approved for asylum in the United States in 2014. He is a recipient of the the LOGO Tv International Trailblazer award. He is a practicing Episcopalian currently living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Join us for this important event on Thursday, June 13 at 7pm in the Pavilion.

Time: 11:00 am

On Sunday, June 23rd, we'll celebrate the start of summer with a parish barbecue immediately following the 10 a.m. service in the garden of The Pavilion at Grace. (If it rains, we'll stay in the Pavilion!) The church will provide burgers and hot dogs and drinks. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. We'll have a special game for the kids, so bring friends and kids, and pray for good weather on the 23rd!
