“Each one must give as he or she has decided in their heart…for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7
What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is everything I do after I say, “I believe.”
Stewardship is a gift of the spirit:
- It is the sharing in God’s mission with glad, generous, and grateful hearts.
- It is transforming lives in our community.
- It is prayerfully responding to God’s call.
- It blesses the giver more than the receiver.
It is through a practice of gratitude and generosity that we will grow spiritually. Generosity flows out of our gratitude for the gifts of love, family, and life itself. We are called to share in God’s mission of caring for the world, using all the gifts that have been given to us.
Give with Confidence
Your gifts to Grace Church support our mission and ministry of prayer and service.
We deeply value your generosity and pledge responsible stewardship of each donation.

Inspired by the spirit and in thankfulness for our blessings, our annual stewardship commitment brings us together to pray, to serve, and to give to the Lord.
By making an annual pledge to Grace Church, you are joyfully committing to financial support of our mission and ministry.
To build by the grace of God, a loving and joyful community which lives the Gospel through worship, proclamation, and service to each other and to downtown Providence and beyond.
And, you are showing your gratitude to God for all the gifts he has bestowed on you and your family.
Annual pledges – usually made in the fall for the next calendar year – demonstrate your commitment to Grace Church and allow its leadership to budget for our ministry and the prudent maintenance of its resources. A portion of the church budget also supports the work of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, through our annual apportionment.
You may make your pledge in regular installments – weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually. Pledge envelopes are supplied for those who wish to place them in the collection plate each week, or you may give through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) directly from your bank account or online. To make your pledge payments via Electronic Funds Transfer, please contact the parish administrator.
And, should your financial capacity to fulfill your pledge change during the giving year, you may contact the church administrator to adjust your pledge up or down as your circumstances require.
Your pledge is a tax-deductible contribution.
“The disciples, each according to their ability, decided to provide help.” Acts 11:29
What is Tithing?
Tithing is the opportunity to designate the “first fruits” of your labors to God. It is a goal for giving, not a requirement. All pledges to Grace Church are gratefully received.
A tithe is traditionally the gift of 10% of your annual income (wages, retirement, investments, etc.).
The concept of tithing comes from several biblical sources:
Bring God a free-will offering proportionate in size to his blessing upon you as judged by the amount of your harvest.” Deuteronomy 16:10
Let each one of you give according to how the Lord has prospered you.” I Corinthians 16:2
There is also the concept of modern tithing – designating 5% of your income to the church and 5% to other worthy nonprofit organizations that you chose to support in fulfilling God’s Kingdom on earth.
A third concept is proportional tithing – designating a set percentage of your income for the church, with the goal of increasing your pledge as circumstances permit.
Founded in 1829, Grace Church is the vibrant spiritual community it is today because of the foresight and generosity of generations of those who have worshiped here before us.
Many of their gifts are invested in an endowment, from which investments can provide supplemental income as needed by Grace Church.
You can follow the lead of those who have generously made provisions for the future generations of Grace Church by:
- Designating Grace Church in your will or trust
- Making a gift of stock or real estate
- Making a life-income or other planned gift now, which may lower your current tax liability while providing you with retirement or investment income.
