Prayer Shawl & Quilting Ministries at Grace Church
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The mission of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is to bring God’s love to those in need of comfort. Members of this group knit and crochet shawls, which are given to individuals who are ill, struggling, or grieving. Each shawl is accompanied by a prayer card from the congregation. During the winter months, the group also makes hats, scarves, and mittens for those in need. Special baby blankets are created for infants who are baptized at Grace Church. Participants may choose to knit individually at home, or to gather for fellowship with others while working together. For more information, contact Prayer Shawl Ministry Coordinator Jane Ditmars at shawls@gracepvd.org
Quilting Ministry
The Quilting Ministry began in late October 2019 and its mission is to provide comfort and warmth for foster children in Rhode Island. Its members gather in The Pavilion every Wednesday morning, from 9:30AM-11:30AM and create quilts from donated fabric. This ministry is affiliated with a national non-profit MY VERY OWN BLANKET, headquartered in Ohio. This entity works with Child + Family Services in Providence. Once the quilts are completed, they are then blessed and given to Child + Family Services for distribution. For information about this ministry, including the donation of fabric, batting, and other quilting supplies, please contact John Camberlin at jchamberlin1944@gmail.com or 401-598-6489.
